- Dr. Chung has recently finished a paper: A Study on the Method of
Korean Political Thoughts -- Focusing on the Problems and Comparative
Analysis, which will be published at the end of this year in
commemoration of the 60th birthday of his former teacher, Seoul
National University. Since his academic career began with his
particular interests in studying Korean political thoughts,
he will be doing research in this field continuously.
In the middle of last year 1992, he received a grant, with other
colleagues, from the Academy of Korean Studies for writing a book
on theories of new world order. Since then he has been writing
chapters on the future of international relations,
which deals with various theories of new world order,
including trilateralism, the Club of Rome's global revolution,
Daniel Bell's post-industrial society, and Confucius Kang Yu-wei's
unique vision of borderless and race-mixed world.
He is also writing a paper on Korean Ideas for Regional Peace
which deals with three intellectual-turned-political leaders' views
on the regional peace and cooperation that had been proposed during
the transitional periods since the fall of Choson Dynasty. This will
be published in the middle of the year 1994 in commemoration of his
another teacher's 60th birthday.
- He has been playing tennis since his undergraduate days. About 5 months
ago, he started playing golf at nearby indoor training courses.
Besides sports, his favorite pastime is to go to the movies.
Especially he likes to watch political movies which deal with political
figures or political issues such as J.F.K., Malcom X, Z, and Platoon.
He would let his students watch those same movies and later have them
write critical essays on those movies for mid-term examinations.
He thinks political movies are very useful in making the students
approach to things more realistic and reflective.
